Standing committees

Committees study issues in detail, lead outreach and report back to the House. The Speaker sets up the Vetting Committee each term. Members are assigned at the start of each term.

  • Vetting Committee

    Set up by the Speaker. Its panels vet applicants in each region with a score sheet and recommend constituency placements.

  • Business Committee

    Plans the order of business for each sitting of the House.

  • Finance Committee

    Reviews the Parliament's budget, dues and spending plans.

  • Public Accounts Committee

    Checks that money approved by the House was spent as agreed.

  • Education Committee

    Leads the Parliament's inquiries and outreach on education.

  • Health Committee

    Leads the Parliament's inquiries and outreach on health.

  • Youth and Sports Committee

    Leads the Parliament's work on youth development and sport.
