Terms of use

The rules for using the Youth Government Initiative website and member portal.

Last updated 12/10/2026

Draft for UNYA-GH review. This text was prepared with the platform and has not yet been approved by UNYA-GH or checked by a lawyer. It is not in force.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to everyone who uses the Youth Government Initiative website and member portal, run by UNYA-GH. By using the site you agree to them. Members also agree to the governing framework of UNYA-GH, the Standing Orders of the YGI Parliament and the Code of Conduct.

2. Who can join

Membership is open to young Ghanaians aged 18 to 35 on the vetting date. Membership starts only when an applicant passes vetting, is allocated a constituency and activates their account.

3. Your account

  • Keep your password and passkeys private. Never share your account.
  • Office holders must use two-step verification.
  • Tell the Secretariat straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
  • We will never ask for your password by email, SMS or phone.

4. Acceptable use

When using the platform you must not:

  • post anything false, abusive, discriminatory or that breaks the law;
  • pretend to be someone else or misuse an office's access;
  • share other members' personal data outside the platform;
  • try to break, overload or get around the security of the platform.

Breaking these rules can lead to sanctions under the Code of Conduct, including suspension.

5. Offices and access

Access to dashboards comes from the office you hold, not from you personally. It starts when you are sworn in and ends automatically when your term ends. Records you create in an office stay with that office for the next holder.

6. Content you publish

News, reports and documents you publish in an office belong to UNYA-GH and remain in the public record of the term. Content may be reviewed by the Communications Officer before it is published.

7. Dues and payments

  • Dues are set each term by the Treasurer and shown in the member portal.
  • Payments are made through a licensed payment gateway. A payment counts only once the gateway confirms it.
  • Dues are not refundable, except where a payment was made by mistake or charged twice.
  • Unpaid dues can affect your standing and your eligibility for office.

8. Names and logos

The UNYA-GH name, the YGI emblem and the content of this site belong to UNYA-GH. You may share public pages and documents with credit, but you may not use the names or emblem to suggest endorsement without written permission.

9. Our responsibility

We work to keep the platform accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. UNYA-GH is not responsible for losses caused by things outside its reasonable control.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana.

11. Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. Questions go to the Secretariat through the contact page. See also our privacy notice.
